Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic and painful skin condition characterized by the development of skin abscesses and subsequent scarring.

The precise cause of hidradenitis suppurativa remains unknown, but it tends to occur in areas near hair follicles with associated sweat glands, commonly affecting regions such as the groin, buttocks, breasts, and armpits.

Although there is currently no cure for HS, various treatment options are available, depending on the stage and severity of the condition. Laser-based treatments are gaining popularity as an increasingly common approach.

Arising from blocked hair follicles, laser hair removal is a potentially effective treatment as it targets and destroys these follicles. Laser therapies may also contribute to reducing the frequency of HS flare-ups by diminishing the number of follicles, sebaceous glands, and bacteria in the affected areas.
